Georgetown is nestled in between some of the most majestic peaks in the State, which of course means endless trails to pedal & climb, streams to fish, raft & paddle, shops to browse, history to relive, accommodations to relax in, and some of the finest restaurants around. The famous train, the Georgetown Loop operates daily, May 24th through October 5th. Georgetown has managed to keep its Victorian charm with many homes and buildings rich in this architectural style. The town offers a variety of unique shops, boutiques, restaurants, and overnight accommodations owned by individuals who also enjoy this beautiful mountain setting. You can't see Georgetown from the highway, take the Georgetown exit 228 from Interstate 70, turn right at the 4-way stop, and drive on down to town only a minute away. Georgetown is located only one hour west of Denver off I-70. Historic Georgetown, Inc. does a fine job of restoring, preserving and interpreting homes that represent a broad range of lifestyles in this 1870's mining town. There's something special about an old house - whether it's a sense of place and time, personal history, or simply the joy of craftsmanship found in old buildings.
